The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has officially announced its Group B and C Deputation Recruitment 2026 through Circular DEP-01/2026, dated 30th May 2026. A total of 11 vacancies are being filled across four posts – Senior Private Secretary, Assistant Manager (IT), Assistant, and Junior Assistant Grade-I – on a deputation basis, including short-term contract arrangements under Foreign Service Terms. FSSAI is a statutory authority established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is responsible for setting science-based standards for food items and regulating their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption across the country. Working at FSSAI offers professionals a chance to contribute meaningfully to public health administration in India. This recruitment drive is exclusively for serving officers from Central Government departments, State Government departments, Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Universities, Recognised Research Institutions, Semi-Government bodies, Statutory Organisations, and Autonomous Organisations. Direct or fresh candidates are not eligible – this is strictly a deputation-based recruitment process. The online application portal will be live from 30th May 2026 to 19th June 2026 on the official FSSAI website at www.fssai.gov.in under the "jobs@fssai(careers)" section. In addition to the online application, candidates must also send a physical hard copy of the application, duly certified by their employer or Cadre Controlling Authority, through proper official channel. The hard copy must reach the FSSAI Headquarters in New Delhi by 13th July 2026. Both steps are compulsory – failure to complete either will result in cancellation of the application. The maximum age for deputation candidates is 56 years, calculated as on 19th June 2026. There is no application fee for any of the posts. Post-wise, the Senior Private Secretary role (2 vacancies) requires secretarial experience at an analogous level or 2 years of service at Pay Level-6. The Assistant Manager (IT) post (1 vacancy) demands an IT or engineering degree with experience at an analogous level or 5 years at Pay Level-6. The Assistant posts (6 vacancies) require a bachelor's degree with 10 years of service at Pay Level-4, along with experience in administration, HR, or vigilance. The Junior Assistant Grade-I positions (2 vacancies) require at least 12th Standard qualification and 8 years of service at Pay Level-2. Salaries are governed by the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix, ranging from ₹25,500 per month for Junior Assistant Grade-I up to ₹1,51,100 for Senior Private Secretary. Deputation pay rules will follow the DoPT Office Memorandum dated 17th June 2010 and subsequent government orders. IDA-scale employees from PSUs can use the equivalency chart provided in Annexure-III of the official notification to verify their eligibility. The initial tenure of deputation will be 1, 2, or 3 years depending on the post, subject to vacancy availability. Tenure extension is possible based on performance appraisal and mutual consultation with the parent department. Notably, the deputation to FSSAI is exempt from the rule of immediate absorption.
