CSIR-Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology (IGIB), located in Delhi, has released a fresh notification inviting applications for the post of Multi-Tasking Staff. This is a great opportunity for candidates who have completed their 10th standard and are looking for a stable government job under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The institute is one of the leading research bodies in India, working in areas such as genomics, bioinformatics, molecular medicine and proteomics, and this recruitment drive aims to strengthen its support staff strength. A total of two vacancies are being filled through this notification, with one post kept open for the unreserved category and one reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates. The selected employee will be placed in Pay Level 1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, drawing a starting basic pay of Rs. 18,000, which can go up to Rs. 56,900 over time. Along with the basic pay, the employee will receive Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance as applicable, taking the approximate starting take-home pay to around Rs. 36,360 for postings in Delhi. The role of Multi-Tasking Staff is a support-function job and involves general office duties such as maintaining physical records, keeping the section clean, carrying files between departments, operating photocopiers and fax machines, and handling incoming and outgoing mail. Apart from office-related tasks, the job also covers guest house upkeep, garden maintenance, vehicle record-keeping, and even driving duties when needed, for which extra honorarium is paid separately. Because the role is varied, candidates should be prepared for shift duties and physical work as part of daily responsibilities. To be eligible, applicants must have passed the 10th standard (SSC) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. The upper age limit for this post is capped at 25 years, calculated as on the last date of online application submission, which is 26 August 2026. Reserved category candidates and other special groups such as widows, divorced women, and ex-servicemen can avail age relaxation as per government norms explained later in this post. Interested and eligible candidates can apply only through the online mode via the official CSIR-IGIB website. The registration process began on 27 July 2026 and will remain open until 26 August 2026. A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500 is applicable for general category candidates, while SC, ST, women, persons with benchmark disabilities, and ex-servicemen are exempted from paying this fee. Selection for this post will be made purely on the basis of performance in a single OMR-based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination. There will be no interview stage. The exam will test candidates on General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and English Language, with negative marking for wrong answers. Since the competition for such central government vacancies is usually high, candidates are advised to start their preparation early and stay updated through the official website for any changes or corrigendum related to this CSIR-IGIB Multi-Tasking Staff Recruitment 2026. This vacancy carries All India Service Liability, meaning the selected candidate may be required to serve at any CSIR location across the country, not just Delhi.
