The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has officially announced a major recruitment drive for 2026, inviting applications from eligible Indian nationals for 1535 Group C Non-Ministerial posts spread across 194 different post codes. This recruitment is being carried out through the Combined Matric Level Examination 2026, conducted via a Tablet Based Test (TBT) — a modern, computer-based assessment format suited to the island territory's infrastructure. This A&N Administration Group C Recruitment 2026 is one of the largest government job opportunities in the Union Territory this year. Posts are available across a wide array of departments, including the Directorate of Education, Department of Environment and Forests, Directorate of Health Services, Directorate of Shipping Services, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Andaman Public Works Department, Agriculture Department, and many others. The sheer variety of roles — from Multi Tasking Staff and Forest Guard to Engine Dinghy Operator, Draughtsman, Driver, Cook, Oiler, and Seacunny — means that candidates with different educational and technical backgrounds can find a post suited to their qualifications. The minimum educational qualification for most posts is a pass in the Secondary School Examination (Class 10th / Matriculation) from a recognized board. However, certain technical and trade-specific posts require an ITI certificate, a diploma in the relevant field, or practical experience, depending on the pay level. Candidates are strongly advised to go through Annexure-I of the official notification carefully before choosing a post code to apply for, as each of the 194 codes carries its own specific eligibility requirements. The selection process involves two tiers. Tier-I is the Tablet Based Test (TBT), an online MCQ-based examination of 150 questions worth 150 marks, to be completed in 120 minutes. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer, so candidates should approach the test with a calculated strategy. Tier-II, where applicable, involves physical standards, endurance tests, or skill and trade tests depending on the post. Crucially, Tier-II is only qualifying in nature — it does not contribute to the final merit score. The final merit list is prepared purely based on Tier-I performance. Reservations follow the standard government norms with one important distinction: only Local Scheduled Tribe candidates of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (as per the Scheduled Tribe Order of 1959) are eligible for ST reservation. Similarly, OBC reservation benefits apply only to Local OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates as per specific A&N Administration Gazette Notifications. Candidates from mainland India belonging to ST or OBC categories will be treated as Unreserved applicants. All applications must be submitted online through the official portal erecruitment.andamannicobar.gov.in. The application window opens on 8 June 2026 at noon and closes on 28 June 2026 at midnight. Candidates are encouraged to complete their applications well ahead of the deadline to avoid technical difficulties. Once submitted, no changes to category, post preference, or personal details will be permitted under any circumstances. This recruitment offers a genuine and stable career path in central government service within the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Selected candidates will be posted within the Union Territory and will be entitled to all benefits applicable under 7th CPC pay scales, along with standard government allowances and retirement benefits.
