The examination is conducted in two tiers — Tier-I (Computer Based Test) and Tier-II (Computer Based Test with multiple papers and sections), ensuring a thorough and fair assessment of candidates. The Tier-I examination is tentatively scheduled for August–September 2026, while the Tier-II examination is expected in December 2026. Both stages are conducted in Computer Based Mode across multiple examination centres spread throughout India. The selection process includes: Tier-I: Objective type MCQs covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension (100 questions, 200 marks, 1 hour) Tier-II: Paper-I (mandatory for all), Paper-II (for JSO/Statistical Investigator posts), Paper-III (for AAO/Audit Officer posts), along with Computer Knowledge Test and Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) Final merit is based entirely on Tier-II performance, and post allocation is done on a merit-cum-preference basis using an Online Option Form. Candidates must submit their post preferences carefully as choices once submitted are final and irreversible. Candidates from SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen categories are eligible for reservations and age relaxations as per Government of India norms. The Commission has also made provisions for scribe/assistive technology for eligible PwBD and PwD candidates, along with compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour. Applications must be submitted online only at https://ssc.gov.in or through the my SSC mobile app. Candidates who haven't yet completed their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website must do so before applying. The application fee is ₹100, payable online. Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM candidates are fully exempted from fee payment. A Window for Application Form Correction is available from 29-06-2026 to 01-07-2026, allowing candidates to rectify errors in their submitted applications for a correction fee of ₹200 (first correction) or ₹500 (second correction). The Commission also implements Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, making the process more secure and streamlined. Candidates who authenticate via Aadhaar will not face issues related to photograph or signature quality in their applications. With vacancies in premier organizations like CBDT, CBIC, CBI, NIA, CAG, C&AG, Department of Posts, Ministry of External Affairs, Intelligence Bureau, and many more, the SSC CGL 2026 recruitment presents an outstanding opportunity for every graduate aspiring to serve the nation through a secure and well-paying government career.
