BSNL JTO Recruitment 2026 is a golden opportunity for engineering graduates who dream of building a career in India's public sector telecom industry. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has officially invited applications for 100 Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) posts through direct recruitment from the open market. This recruitment is conducted under Advertisement No. BSNLCO-11/12(11)/1/2026-RECTT-CO, and the online application window is open from 4 June 2026 to 3 July 2026. The Junior Telecom Officer (JTO) is a Circle Cadre post, meaning selected candidates will be allotted to one of 21 BSNL territorial circles spread across India. Vacancies are distributed across states including Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and many more. Candidates willing to serve in multiple locations are advised to select all 21 circle preferences during registration, as this maximises their chances of selection. To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must hold a B.E. or B.Tech degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Radio, Computer Science, Electrical, Information Technology, or Instrumentation from a recognised university. Alternatively, those with an M.Sc. in Electronics or Computer Science are also eligible. Candidates with M.Tech in the prescribed disciplines can also apply. The educational qualification must be completed on or before the closing date of application, i.e., 3 July 2026. The age limit is set between 20 and 30 years for unreserved candidates, with standard relaxations for OBC (NCL), SC/ST, PwBD, and BSNL employees as per Central Government norms. Age is calculated as on the application closing date. Selection will be done through a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 3 hours comprising 120 objective-type questions carrying 480 marks. The exam is divided into three sections — two engineering stream sections worth 200 marks each, and a General Ability Test worth 80 marks. Each correct answer fetches 4 marks while each wrong answer deducts 1 mark, making accuracy critical. Candidates must meet both sectional and overall minimum qualifying marks to be included in the merit list. Once selected through the CBT, candidates go through document verification and a medical examination before receiving a final appointment offer. All selected candidates must undergo structured training including Phase-I training (10 weeks), field training (4 weeks), and Phase-II specialisation training (6 weeks). During training, a stipend as decided by BSNL will be paid. An important condition of this recruitment is the service bond of ₹6 lakhs, which requires selected candidates to serve BSNL for a minimum of 5 years from the date of joining. The probation period is two years. Candidates unwilling to commit to this bond or to relocate across India should carefully consider before applying. The examination is expected to be held tentatively in August 2026 across 27 designated cities. Applications are accepted only through the BSNL External Exam portal at www.externalexam.bsnl.co.in. No offline or manual applications will be accepted. This is a rare all-India direct recruitment for engineering graduates into a permanent government telecom officer role. With only 100 seats and lakhs of eligible engineering graduates across the country, competition is expected to be intense. Candidates should begin preparation early, especially focusing on electronics, communication systems, digital circuits, and computer engineering subjects.
